Hello, I am Tia Sunshine Dye, a watercolor artist. When I’m not painting in my Ann Arbor home studio, I am here connecting with other artists in my community, my friends and family across the country, and even some collectors.

I primarily paint with transparent watercolor on Arches paper. I always paint with professional-grade materials. If someone decides to invest in my artwork I want them to have a quality painting that will be a part of their home or office for years to come.

But, selling my artwork was never the goal. I love sending artwork to a new home, but first and foremost, I paint for me. In the last few years painting has allowed me to slow down the busyness of my life. I am taking time for my own thoughts and I continue to process deep feelings through the subjects of my art.

My watercolor paintings often have gold ink details and I am known to mount my paintings after they are complete. My mounted paintings are finished with cold wax and are similar to a wrapped canvas but with a natural wood finish on the sides. Besides having a modern gallery look, this process eliminates the need for glass. The wax is protective, and the finished artwork can be displayed as is, or it can be framed, much like an oil painting. Some people prefer my watercolors framed traditionally, under glass with a mat, and I am happy to make that work as well. Since my painting process is for me, selling online isn’t my priority. Most of the year I want to focus on creating, but I will open my online shop 3 or 4 times during the year. Members have first dibs on all artwork and can buy available prints, stickers, and cards year-round.
